The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) selected Hazel Pringle, an eleventh-grade student at Harry S Truman High School, to become a member of the organization. The Society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment. NSHSS Co-founder and President James W. Lewis made the announcement.

"On behalf of NSHSS and our co-founder Claes Nobel, a member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes, I am honored to recognize the hard work, passion and commitment that Hazel has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence," said Lewis. "Hazel is now a member of a unique community of scholars – a community that represents our very best hope for the future."

Pringle is very involved at Truman High School. She is president of Light Bible Club, had a lead position in the School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention System (SWPBIS), and spearheads fundraising ideas for the Student Council.

“The qualifications and achievements at Truman that assisted me to accomplish this are consistently communicating with the staff and my comrades,” said Pringle.

She also volunteers with the Bucks County Suicide Prevention Taskforce, where she received her QPI Gatekeeper Certificate, works part-time at Giant Food Stores, and has multiple e-commerce websites where she sells merchandise.

"We are proud to provide lifetime membership to young scholars to support their growth and development," stated Lewis. "We help students like Hazel build on their academic success by connecting them with learning experiences and resources to help prepare them for college and meaningful careers."

NSHSS members automatically become lifetime members at the time of their initial membership. Each step along the way – from high school to college to career – NSHSS connects outstanding young scholars with the resources they need to develop their strengths and pursue their passions.

“As a lifetime member of NSHSS, I’m looking forward to the networking resources and scholarship opportunities. Having access to networking events and connections will introduce me to students, who convey similar ambitions,” said Pringle. “Furthermore, having access to scholarships will aid my future academic goals. I am also thrilled to explore the leadership development programs NSHSS offers, as they will hone my skills.”

For students facing academic obstacles or feeling discouraged, Pringle encourages her peers to support each other and seek guidance from teachers or staff.

“The encouragement you receive from your colleagues and mentors serves as a reminder that you are never isolated in your battles. You will conquer the giants in your life,” said Pringle.
