Connecting fresh, healthy food to students, the Pennsylvania Farm to School Grant awarded Bristol Township School District with a $15,000 grant.
These funds will be used to create the “Farm Fresh Spotlight” program in Ben Franklin and Neil A. Armstrong middle schools.
“The main goal of this program is to highlight local fruits and vegetables featured on our menus and encourage students to try healthy, local foods,” said Food Service Director Brandon Lang.
On November 14, Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding announced $605,398 in Farm to School Grants will be distributed to 56 schools, school districts and childhood education centers across the state.
"Farm to School grants are a solid investment in feeding hungry minds and feeding our future,” Secretary Redding said. "Introducing children to fresh, locally produced food changes childrens' lives. Those children introduce their families to new foods and what they have learned about local farmers who produce their food.”
