For the fifth consecutive year, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) awarded Keystone Elementary School with grant funding under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP).
“We are excited to bring this program to Keystone once again and promote fruit and vegetable consumption for our youngest learners,” said Brandon Lang, food service director of the Bristol Township School District.
Keystone Elementary School is the only Bucks County school to receive this grant for the 2025-2026 school year, as well as the previous two school years. The grant, totaling $72,800, will be used to fund fresh fruit and vegetable samples three times per week. This program is separate from the fruits and vegetables that are provided at breakfast and lunch.
Beyond nutrition, the program also fosters student skills.
“Our autistic support classes enjoy preparing the carts and delivering the fruits and vegetables to each classroom,” said Lang. “It gives students a responsibility to be proud of, and all students are excited to try the new fruits and vegetables being delivered.”
