The Bristol Township School Board of Directors appointed Robyn Battershell to the role of Supervisor of Special Education, joining Director of Special Services Dr. Al Oberman's district team.
Battershell replaces Megan Atkins, who departed the district, and will work primarily with Truman High School.
Battershell has been with the Bristol Township School District since 2001, teaching both general education and special education students in a variety of instructional settings at FDR and now Benjamin Franklin Middle School. In 2017 she moved into the position of Special Education Department Chairperson where she fulfilled a variety of leadership roles, including coordinating student evaluations, facilitating team meetings and acting as a resource for teachers.
Battershell has been very involved in both extracurricular activities and professional development during her many years with the district. She has served as the National Junior Honor Society Advisor, Yearbook Coordinator, on the Leadership Committee and as a mentor for new teachers. On the professional learning side, she has participated in professional development training in LETRS, the Wilson Reading system, Responsive Classroom and the development of IEPs.
Battershell earned her Supervisor of Special Education Certification from Gwynedd Mercy last year. She also received a Reading Specialist certificate from Cabrini College, a Master's of Education from West Chester University and a Bachelor's of Education from Millersville University.
"Robyn has done excellent work on behalf of the students of the Bristol Township School District for many years," Dr. Oberman stated. "We are happy to welcome her as an excellent addition to our Educational Leadership Team, and look forward to her contributions in her new role."
